Otto Schauer is a German painter. Over the years, he wanted to free himself from abstract painting and invent a new form of figuration which for him would focus more and more on color. Contour and line take a back seat.  Schauer model with color. Colours, their strength and their relationships determine the shape and representation of objects. Otto Schauer is a real colorist.

Friedrich Otto Schauer   was born on September 7, 1923 in Stuttgart Bad Cannstatt, Germany. In September 1950, he went to Paris where he would spend the rest of his life. In 1952, he married  Thérèse Gagné.
